The main aim of the brief was to convert music into photography. We were given a choice to either convert an entire song or a lyric into an image. I chose to do a song by Metronomy called ‘The Look’ which basically talks about moving around in circles and the cycles in life making us believing there is nothing greater beyond our ‘bowl’. I took the idea of a goldfish in a bowl and putting it against the ocean. The image shows that despite our going around in circles there is freedom, greater than we can ever know we just need to look beyond our chosen horizon and beyond the illusion of cycles. The idea is furthermore inspired by Rene Magritte’s ‘The Human Condition’ work.
